Why I'm building this
I've spent three months running every major AI coding tool on real production codebases — a Node + Postgres SaaS, an Astro static site, a 100k+ LOC monorepo. The free blog posts cover the methodology and the high-level numbers. This guide is the working artifact: the spreadsheets I actually use, the procurement questions I'd ask, the 12-criteria sheet that says "buy this tool if you weight these dimensions above these."
Decision guides exist; most are vendor-coloured. This one names cons, shows the math, and gives you the spreadsheet to plug in your own numbers. If it does not save you the $49 in tooling waste in the first month, refund within 60 days, no questions.

FAQ
Who is this guide for?
Solo engineers evaluating which AI coding tool to standardize on, and engineering managers building a procurement case for a 5–50 person team. If you've already decided, you do not need this guide.
What format do I get?
A 40-page PDF with embedded spreadsheets (TCO, ROI, scoring rubric). The spreadsheets are usable in Google Sheets, Excel, or Numbers. Delivered immediately on purchase.
How is this different from the free blog posts?
The blog posts give you the methodology and the high-level numbers. The guide gives you the editable spreadsheets, the procurement question list, the MCP server rubric, and the 12-criteria scoring sheet — the stuff I'd hand a hiring manager before a procurement review.
Will this be updated?
Yes — every quarter as pricing and capability shifts. Buyers receive updates free for 12 months from purchase. After that, an extension is $19/year if you want continued updates.
