Who Is Andrew Ng

Andrew Ng is a computer scientist and entrepreneur who has done more than almost anyone to teach the world machine learning. He co-founded Google Brain, served as Chief Scientist at Baidu, and is an adjunct professor at Stanford University.

What He Built

Ng’s Stanford machine learning course, later launched on Coursera — the online education company he co-founded — has been taken by millions of learners and became the on-ramp into AI for a generation of engineers. He went on to found DeepLearning.AI, which produces widely used courses on deep learning, generative AI, and AI engineering, and Landing AI, focused on computer vision for manufacturing.

Why He Matters

Ng is a pragmatic voice in a field prone to hype. Through his “The Batch” newsletter and his courses he consistently translates frontier research into practical guidance for builders, and he champions the idea that AI’s biggest untapped value lies in the long tail of smaller, domain-specific applications — not just frontier models.
